You may have seen a Brightline train rolling along the FEC tracks north of the Tamarind Ave. station and thought, "Brightline only runs between Miami and West Palm Beach."
The high-speed rail line plans to expand to Orlando early next year, so the company sent its first qualifying train from West Palm Beach to Micco in Brevard County at 7:30 a.m..
The train has no passengers and is following a freight train for the three hour trip.
It was expected to arrive around 10:30 a.m., then head back to West Palm Beach.
For Wednesday, the plan is to run a round-trip trip from West Palm to Cocoa.
The daily practice run is for engineers and train conductors to learn the tracks along the 130 mile stretch.
