Florida Leaders Discuss Future Of Attractions At Orlando's ICON Park

Nearly three months after 14 year old Tyree Sampson slipped out of his seat on the FreeFall drop tower ride in Orlando and fell to his death, Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried said Wednesday an intense investigation by her agency into the tragic death is far from over.

"The problem is is that we don't even know what was the ultimate cause and what was the causation," Fried said during a community conversation in Orlando about the future of the attractions at ICON Park. "That is certainly going to be something that is being investigated."

The FreeFall ride and the Orlando Slingshot next to it have both been closed since Sampson's death but the company that ownes both rides hopes to get Fried's approval to reopen the Slingshot ride. Fried DID make this promise-

"No matter how long this is going to take, we are going to get to the bottom of everything."

Sampson's family is demanding the FreeFall ride be demolished. A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against the SlingShot Group and other companies.
