Legislation named in honor of a Missouri teenager who died at a Central Florida theme park last year is heading to the Governor's desk for his signature. Representative Bracy Davis sponsored the Tyre Sampson Act which requires more stringent safety standards for amusement park rides.

"Tyre was just a 14-year-old. Was a promising student and a football player. He was an honor roll student, and was known for his kind heart, " said Davis.

Sampson fell from the freefall ride at ICON Park last year while on vacation in Florida.

The measure passed unanimously by the Florida House with no debate.

If Governor Ron DeSantis signs the bill into law, it will go into effect this July.
