Prince Louis is growing up!

Prince William and Kate Middleton celebrated Louis' 7th birthday by sharing a new portrait of their youngest child on their official social media channels on Wednesday (April 23), and the photo features a major change for the young royal. In the photo, taken by photographer Josh Shinner, Louis is all smiles sitting in a garden in a dark green sweater over a collared patterned shirt and a pair of dark wash jeans.

The choice of jeans marks a new change for the Prince and Princess of Wales' youngest son as it is the first time he has worn long pants rather than shorts in a birthday portrait, per People, which notes that it's common for upper-class boys in Britain to wear shorts and knee socks rather than long pants.

Along with the wardrobe switch-up indicating the young royal growing up, the sweet snap also highlighted Louis' current toothless grin as he appears to have recently lost his two front teeth.

"Wishing Prince Louis a very Happy 7th birthday!" the royals captioned the post.

In another new move, the royal parents also shared a video of the birthday boy having fun running around the garden during the same photoshoot and even jumping from a fallen tree.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have a tradition of sharing portraits of their children in honor of their birthdays. In addition to Louis, the royals are parents to Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 9.
