Congressman Carlos Gimenez toured the Federal Detention Center in Downtown Miami last week. Monday morning, he toured the Krome detention facility.
"People are saying that there aren't adequate bathroom facilities. There are adequate bathroom facilities, there's shower facilities, they're fed three times a day, " Gimenez said after walking the Krome Detention Center Monday.
ICE standards call for a ratio of 12 to 1 detainees to toilets and 14 to 1 for showers.
Gimenez says there's nothing concerning when it comes to quality of care at Krome.
"It's not something you would say it was inhumane or something that you wouldn't see in any other detention facility, " he said.
The congressman adds detainees typically spend 27 days at Krome before being deported.
