Kid Cudi announced he's taking a lengthy break in his last song for a while.
On Sunday, September 28, the Cleveland native shared a new track called "Once" on his SoundCloud page. The brooding track sounds like classic Cudder and includes a special message for his fans.
“This is a goodbye for now song,” he wrote in the description. “It was produced by myself with my homie Sebastian addin’ extra sauce here and there. Taking a break but wanted to leave u w something special and from the heart. Ull be hearing me featured on my friends’ albums but as far as me, I gotta step into the shadows and focus on my other dreams.”
“It’s gonna be a while between now and the next Kid Cudi album,” he explained in a video he shared to X. “So I wanted to leave you with a little something that could motivate you, uplift you… I made it earlier this year, just f**king around in the studio.”
Kid Cudi just dropped his 11th studio album, Free, which was a step away from his usual rap bangers. Before that project, Cudi shared his INSANO LP and its deluxe version INSANO (NITRO MEGA). While he's done well to keep his fans at bay with his music, Kid Cudi, born Scott Mescudi, has also branched out into the entertainment industry as an actor, director, and author. He penned his debut book, "Cudi: The Memoir," before he appeared in several major films and TV series.
The beloved "Day N' Nite" rapper won't disappear completely. In his message, Cudi said he'd pop up on his friend's upcoming albums. Mescudi recently directed and starred in his latest short film, Mr. Miracle, alongside LaKeith Stanfield. He also hopped on Stanfield's first-ever song "Fast Life."
