North Port, FL - A North Port man has pleaded guilty to attempting to transfer obscene material to a minor and committing a felony offense involving a minor, despite being a registered sex offender.
Prosecutors say 40-year-old Imran Siddiqi faces a maximum penalty of 10 years for the first count and a mandatory minimum 10-year sentence for the second count.
According to court records, between January 31st and March 6th, Siddiqi engaged in an online conversation with an undercover law enforcement officer who was posing as a 13-year-old girl.
During the interactions, Siddiqi expressed his intent to have sex with the minor and sent multiple explicit photos of himself, as well as adult pornography.
A sentencing date has not yet been set, but Siddiqi remains in custody as he awaits the court’s decision.
Authorities say Siddiqi is a repeat offender. In 2016 he was convicted in state court for traveling to meet a parent to solicit or entice a child to commit a sex act.
