The body of a missing two-year old boy with autism has been recovered from a Vero Beach pond.

"At this point I can say that all the signs that we've seen, all the evidence that we've seen, points to this being just an absolute tragedy."

Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers says divers pulled a lifeless Shamar Windhom out of the water this morning.

He went missing yesterday afternoon and investigators believe he jumped out of an open window of his family's second-floor apartment, landing on shrubbery and then walking to the nearby pond.

Flowers says the father was home with Shamar and another young child and had the windows open to air out the apartment because both kids were sick.

The investigation continues.
