FLORIDA - Florida has once again cemented its status as the top travel destination in the country, capturing a record 15.5% share of the domestic vacation market in 2024.

The announcement, made by Governor Ron DeSantis, highlights the sixth time the state has broken its own tourism record during his administration.

Governor DeSantis credited the continued growth to policies focused on personal freedom, safety, and practical governance, calling Florida “the world’s favorite place to visit.”

The new data shows a nearly one-point jump from 2023, reaffirming a trend that began in 2019 and continues to gain momentum.

In addition to dominating domestic travel, Florida saw significant gains in international tourism.

Between January and February 2025, Canadian air travel to Florida increased by 0.5%, bucking the national trend, which experienced a 2.3% decline.

The state also recorded a 6.5% increase in overseas visitors, with notable rises in travel from the U.K., Brazil, and Argentina.

A total of 142.9 million visitors came to Florida in 2024—an all-time high and a 1.6% increase over the previous year’s record.

The fourth quarter alone brought in 33.1 million visitors, the most ever recorded in that period, driven by nearly 30 million domestic travelers and over 3 million international tourists.

Tourism remains a key pillar of Florida’s economy, and the state’s resilience in the face of weather disruptions and shifting global travel trends underscores its ongoing appeal to visitors worldwide.
