The first of six community meetings on Miami-Dade's proposed 12-billion-dollar budget begins tonight at the Main Library on West Flagler Street. Commissioner Roberto Gonzalez says he wants the mayor to go line-by-line to determine why the county is 400 million in the red. He thinks the county is misspending money on social projects instead of necessities like public safety and infrastructure. The meetings wrap up next week ahead of two public hearings on the budget in September.
