A pilot was not injured this morning when he was forced to make a belly-landing in Port St. Lucie.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office says the front landing gear failed on the small aircraft, forcing it to lean forward on its belly inside the Treasure Coast Air Park community just after 10 a.m.

The pilot, who was the only one in the plane, was able to exit the aircraft before fire rescue and deputies arrived.

The FAA does not classify the landing as a crash.
