Miami, FL - Nearly 200 passengers on an American Airlines flight were stranded in the Bahamas Monday after their plane was diverted and delayed for several hours.

Flight 1917, scheduled to land in Miami before 4 p.m., did not arrive until around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Passengers reported spending hours on the tarmac in the aircraft with limited air conditioning.

Some travelers allegedly passed out due to the heat and crowded conditions.

Marcus Bolden, a passenger on the flight, shared video footage showing passengers waiting in uncomfortable conditions and described repeated changes to the announced departure time, creating uncertainty about when the plane would leave.

Eventually, passengers were allowed to exit the aircraft and wait inside the airport terminal in the Bahamas before the flight finally departed.

The plane landed in Miami early Tuesday morning.

American Airlines has not provided an official statement regarding the cause of the diversion or the extended delay.
