Pembroke Pines, FL - A 14-year-old student was arrested in Pembroke Pines after allegedly making two swatting calls that prompted a large police response at Charles W. Flanagan High School and nearby schools.

The teen is facing multiple felony charges, including making false reports concerning the use of firearms in a violent manner, disruption of school function, and misuse of the emergency system.

According to Pembroke Pines Police, the first call was made on the Broward Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line, claiming that two suspicious men were approaching Flanagan High School, with one allegedly carrying a firearm.

Police responded quickly, and Flanagan High, Walter C. Young Middle School, and Lakeside Elementary activated precautionary security measures.

After a search of the school and surrounding area, authorities determined the call was a hoax.

Later, a second call was made to the Pembroke Pines City Pension Fund office, containing threats directed at both the office and Flanagan High School.

Detectives traced both calls to the 14-year-old student, who admitted to making them.

The suspect is a sophomore at Flanagan High School.
