Tampa, FL - Tampa is set to add a 250-foot observation wheel called Tampa WOW! (Wheel Over Water) in the Channel District, just north of The Florida Aquarium.

The project is designed to offer panoramic views of Tampa Bay to both residents and visitors.

Developer Tony Miller announced the plans, noting that the attraction will include climate-controlled gondolas that provide a 20- to 30-minute ride experience.

The base of the wheel is planned to feature food and beverage concessions along with luggage storage for cruise passengers exploring the area before or after boarding.

The project will occupy approximately one-third of an acre in a location that connects key downtown destinations, including The Florida Aquarium, Benchmark International Arena, Water Street, the convention center, and the nearby cruise terminals.

The $20 million project is fully privately funded and will not require taxpayer dollars.

Santiago Corrada, President and CEO of Visit Tampa Bay, said the attraction is expected to boost tourism and support economic development in the area.

According to Corrada, Tampa WOW! will provide residents and visitors with a new destination to explore along the Tampa Riverwalk.

The plan is scheduled to be reviewed by the Tampa City Council.

If approved, construction could begin soon, with the observation wheel potentially opening in fall 2026.

The project team has emphasized assembling a team with experience in large-scale observation wheel projects to ensure operational success and visitor safety.

The Tampa WOW! project aims to create a family-friendly destination while enhancing the downtown experience for tourists and locals alike, adding to Tampa’s growing list of waterfront attractions.
