Boca Raton, FL - Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer said Florida could see a new influx of businesses if New York City elects Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani as its next mayor.
Singer told Fox News Digital that high taxes and rising crime in major cities like New York have already driven many companies to relocate to Florida, and that trend could accelerate under Mamdani’s proposed economic policies.
Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist, has advocated for higher taxes on top earners and expanded government programs.
Critics argue that his agenda could discourage investment and job growth in New York City.

Singer said several businesses have already begun exploring relocation options, citing Boca Raton’s lower taxes, strong job market, and favorable business environment.
Singer, who previously practiced law in New York, said many of his former colleagues have expressed concern about Mamdani’s proposals.
He added that Boca Raton’s combination of no state income tax, low property tax rates, and growing commercial opportunities make it an attractive destination for corporate moves.
Singer also emphasized differences in public safety between Boca Raton and New York City.
He said Boca Raton’s crime rate has continued to decline while some major cities have seen increases.
Singer contrasted that with Mamdani’s past comments about reducing police funding, saying that public safety remains a top priority in his city.
The Mamdani campaign did not provide a comment regarding Singer’s statements.
