Florida Driving Law May Make Talking On Cell, Putting On Make-up Illegal.

I've seen it in Miami, Tampa, Tallahassee, Melbourne, Orlando, Jacksonville (I travel the state A LOT). People on their phones, putting on make-up, pets on laps, popping pimples, etc. while driving. I'm not saying I'm a saint and haven't done any of those things. Just pointing out that it's everywhere, and a lot of the times on the interstate going 80 mph.

A new Florida law however, may make it illegal to do all those things in an effert to keep drivers focused on the road.

Here's what may become illegal:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Performing personal grooming
  • Putting on makeup or similar products
  • Interacting with pets or unsecured cargo
  • Using a “personal wireless communications device” such as a cellphone

Florida is one of three states that doesn’t allow police to pull drivers over just because they are on their cellphones. However, if the bill is passed, Florida would be one of the toughest against distracted driving in the nation.
