When I first got into radio the very first superstar to come into the station while I was there was Tallahassee's very own T-Pain, aka Teddy Pendergrass, who was doing a show literally in the radio station at a club down the hall. If you grew up in the mid-2000's in the club/bar scene there wasn't a night out where you didn't hear 50 T-Pain tracks! From "I'm In Luv (Wit A Stripper)" to "Good Life" with Kanye. "Bartender" to "We Takin' Over" from DJ Khaled, T-Pain was EVERY WHERE! Even when he came to Melbourne...he did meet his baby momma here... I have the audio some where when I asked him that question!
But recently, T-Pain's been kinda quiet...he was in that one scene in "Furious 7" where he was a DJ in Abu Dhabi:
But just the other day, Teddy brings out this amazing piece of music with his pal Kurt Hugo Schneider, where they take all of Pain's hits and put a piano and violin and let Pain do his thing. In case you didn't know, he used to sing in his church choir, so autotune isn't needed but Pain had a joy using it.
Be prepared to be amazed!
Need a T-Pain refresher course? Here's the originals:
"Buy U A Drank" featuring Yung Joc
"Best Love Song" featuring Chris Brown
"I'm In Luv (Wit A Stripper)"
But still, this gem needs to be shared more! Back in 2009, this unreleased album called "T-Wayne" was a collab in a full album between T-Pain and Lil Wanye. The two have worked on tracks before, and surprisingly Pain sent a out a tweet with this masterpiece
And as great every T-Pain track has been...nothing beats "I'm On A Boat" and you know, that I know, that I'm right.
