We've all been on water rides at theme parks, and we've all had the situation arise:
What will we do if our electronics get wet? Will they be okay? Will we need to dry them out like our wet clothes?
Well, on Splash Mountain at Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom, they have teamed up with Ziploc and created these Ziploc themed bags.
Cast members around the ride will hand these bags out to riders who wish to keep their valuables dry and protected. However, this is creating a bit of a debate among guests because earlier at the end of the summer WDW announced that they would begin phasing out plastic straws, lids, and bags in the park(s) to help ease their carbon footprint and the use of plastics in the park.
Let's make the world a better place. 🌍 The Walt Disney Company will eliminate single-use plastic straws and plastic stirrers which will amount to a reduction of more than 175 million straws and 13 million stirrers annually! https://t.co/QA0EmSyg3f #DisneyInterns pic.twitter.com/0VzJxOFox1— Disney Programs (@DisneyInterns) August 7, 2018
WDW is the master of creating items to remind you of the times you've had in the park and on that hand I understand the Splash Mountain bag. However, on the other hand of cutting the use of other plastic items in the park and then introducing these bags, when most of our technology is already water resistant seems like a step backward in the beliefs the park holds.
Chances are, more people than not will want these bags as collectors items, especially if they are free to the public.
