Brevard County Sandbag Information

In anticipation of Hurricane Dorian, four locations throughout the county will be used for sandbag distribution on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday (Aug. 30) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The distribution locations are:

  • Eastern Florida State College, Palm Bay campus, 250 Community College Parkway SE.
  • Calvary Chapel, Viera campus, 2852 Fellowship Place.
  • Mitchell Ellington Park, 575 West Hall Road, Merritt Island.
  • Chain of Lakes Park, 2300 Truman Scarborough Way, Titusville.

The free sandbag distribution was coordinated with Brevard County Emergency Management, Brevard County Public Works and the Brevard County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office will have supervised inmates filling and loading sandbags for residents. The sand and the bags are being provided by Brevard County Public Works Department. Sand will not be available until 10 a.m., so early arrival is discouraged.

Other sandbag distributions are planned in:

West Melbourne: Residents will be able to self-fill up to 10 sandbags at West Melbourne Community Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Access to the park will be from the Minton Road and Wingate/Fell Road intersection only, westbound on Fell, through Max K. Rodes Park and eastbound on Flanagan to enter into the park from the south.

Cocoa: Residents can self-fill up sandbags. Specifics on time and location will be provided on Thursday.

Melbourne: An announcement on a sandbag distribution and time is pending.
