Bananas are healthy, so eat more bananas. But what do you do with those peels?

Cook with them: yes, they're edible, and good for you. Add your banana peels to curries, sautées, stir-fries, smoothies, and even banana bread to boost nutritional benefits.

Compost the skins: Banana peels are high in potassium and phosphorus, two nutrients that are essential to many plants in your garden. Don't just toss them out there, though; mix them with your compost so you don't draw bugs.

Shine your silver: wait, what? Make a paste by blending banana peels with some water until you have a thick, spreadable consistency. Rub the paste on your silver pieces with a soft cloth, rinse, and buff. It works!

Skin care: If you’re out of Calamine lotion, grab a banana peel to calm itchy bug bites or irritated skin. The antioxidants are said to reduce swelling and inflammation.
